Last-Minute Removals Australia-Wide

Tell us when you need to move. We'll try to find a removalist who can help at short notice. Urgent requests are passed on first, and we are honest about what short notice can and cannot buy.

Moving tomorrow or this week

Choose Last-minute in the form if you need to move this week or within two weeks, or Emergency for today or tomorrow. An emergency request is marked urgent and passed on first. We cannot promise a removalist will be free on the day you need, because that depends on the place, the day and the size of the move, but an urgent request goes to a removalist who works in your area as soon as we can.

Short notice is common. Across Australia about 15.0% of people lived at a different address a year before the 2021 Census, by our count from the ABS community profile, and 30.6% of homes were rented (ABS). Leases end, sales settle and jobs move.

What helps a fast quote

  • Both addresses, or at least both suburbs and states
  • The latest time you must be out, and any flexibility
  • The size of the home and a list of large items
  • Stairs, lifts and where a truck can stop at each end
  • Whether you need packing, or only loading and driving

Your rights when you book quickly

A rushed booking is still covered by the Australian Consumer Law. A business must not take payment if it does not intend to supply, or if it knew or should have known it could not supply on time (NSW Government). Where no time is set, a removalist's services must be provided within a reasonable time, and what is reasonable depends on factors such as busy periods and public holidays (NSW Fair Trading). Queensland suggests asking whether the removalist commits to your chosen dates and whether storage costs apply if moving day is delayed (Queensland Government).

Get the price in writing. A quote is a total amount that becomes binding when you accept it, while an estimate is approximate and can change, and WA advises paying only a small deposit (Consumer Protection WA). Then request a quote.

Last-minute move questions

Can you get me a removalist for tomorrow?

We will try. Urgent requests are passed on first, but nobody can honestly promise that a removalist is free tomorrow. The removalist tells you what they can do.

Does a last-minute move cost more?

We do not publish prices. Ask the removalist for a written quote and whether it is a fixed price or an hourly rate.

Should I pay a deposit to secure the day?

Read the terms first. WA consumer guidance suggests a small deposit only, and Queensland notes that upfront payments are risky.

What if the removalist cannot come after all?

A business must not take payment if it knew or should have known it could not supply on time. Contact your state's consumer affairs body if you paid and the service did not happen.
